Today i was pondering this quote:
"All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That is his."
-Oscar Wilde
Now... sure i TOTALLY believe that we take from our mothers, we learn from them of course we will adapt to our surroundings much like they did, but this is not a tragedy. This is a blessing. When i do something and think to myself, "I am so my mom right now." I am smiling.
This happened today.
I picked strawberries in the fields.
lol
It reminded me of going to Grandma Shine's house and picking strawberries from her garden.
Now i am making jam.
This reminds me of Grandma Susie's house and devouring hot jam on toast and canning the rest to place in her canning cabinet. (Yes, she had one of those. It is awesome)
Today, on my birthday i feel very blessed to have taken pieces of all the women in my family. I am so thankful to be a mixture of them.
They are beautiful, kind women who love the Lord.
I am truly blessed by each of them.
So today, as i turn 24...
I put cute pink panties on,
curled my hair,
frosted my cupcake (applied lip gloss),
took to the German community collecting supplies for canning
and bought myself a Sunflower plant
I think of all of family
and I smile.
Happy Birthday to me!
"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts." ~Washington Irvin
