Metropolitan Market

Yesterday was wonderful.  Proctor is ADORABLE, love it.
I grabbed a coffee at Starbucks, walked over to Metropolitan market and fell in love all over again.
I would work there for free if they would let me.  I LOVE Metropolitan Market!
LOVE IT!

You walk in to fresh cut flowers, they had 4 kinds of Sunflowers out... HELLO!
Then their bakery is complete with the yummiest smelling treats, they look like friends from all over the world and i wanted to eat ALL OF THEM.

They play Frank Sinatra in their store... again can you tell i am in love.
Their to-go aisle is AMAZING, salads, sandwiches, cheese, all things that look better than my home cooked dinners.  Fresh soups with sourdough rolls...

They have kitchenware in the back of the store, everything from the le cruset's and expensive things that i was drooling over to things that are in my price range and still adorable... LOVE.

They have random things you won't find anywhere else like special sugars and bulk foods to normal brands of things.  They are so charming and wonderful and inspire me to go home and cook every time i visit.

I love you Metropolitan Market!

Today's Docket

Today i need to buy stupid essential items like socks, underwear and printer cartridges... FUN!
I also am going to get my hair did and hopefully make some macarroons!
HERE I GO!

Breakfast mmm...

I made scones for breakfast this morning... delicious.
I can say that because i just mixed them, they were the Fair Scones.
Let me back track for you and tell you that these scones don't just have the buttery fluffy dough and hot jam going for them, they are also backed with a LOT of memories.
Oh The Puyallup Fair!
How i love you so.
Grandma takes Jordyn and I every year and we basically eat our way through the fair, go on the big roller coaster and take a few strips of the photo booth pictures.
It is a fantastic tradition and i hate that i have missed the last 2 years.
On a brighter note, eating these scones reminds me of all the laughs we shared and that is a fantastic feeling.

Military mommies

So... maybe i am ultra fiesty from his extra hormone crud going on in my bod at the moment or maybe it is just because i spent the last 9 days at the airport terminal not only stressing out about getting home in time but also being surrounded by annoying people.  First let me just say that if you are late for roll call you shouldn't get on the plane.  Didn't your mother every teach you the importance of being on time!  Now onto more important things... my anger toward these women who call themselves military mommies but do not act like they have children or at least aren't understanding the significance and impact that their child rearing will have on the lives of their children and on their future.  I am not sorry if this offends you because if it does then maybe you are one of them...

1)  I don't know what your 5 yr old did to make you think they deserved a slap across the face... but maybe don't slap your child across the face... he is 5!
2) If your child is misbehaving and you say "one more time and you won't get..X.." follow through.  You are teaching them how to push your buttons!  DUH!
3) If one of your children is in my louis vuitton bag handing my oreo's to her sister who is standing on my ugg's... maybe stop them.  I don't know!!! PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR CHILDREN.
(yes this happened, maybe i should have spoken up but... maybe watch your own children.  I definitely did not offer them my oreo's.)
4) your 6 year old was not put on this earth to carry a car seat around or pick up YOUR trash... just sayin.

I need to go breathe... i am getting worked up again!
lol

Freezer Friendly Fun

I made some pesto and poured it into my clean ice cube tray for easy pesto later.
I froze these suckers and have since popped them out into a freezer friendly container.
I will throw them into pasta dishes, thaw them out for Bruschetta or throw them onto salmon for a quick sandwich.

Barbeque Chicken Pizza for my hubby while i am gone.
Yes, i feel bad for leaving him home alone with cereal so i pack the freezer with goodies that he will eat..
I threw some cut veggies and marinated Chicken together for a freezer stir fry
-and-
I also made Nick some Bleu cheese beef burgers and some
Turkey mushroom burger patties for the freezer.  Easy since buns freeze too!

I love lasagna noodles...
YUM!
Chicken, Broccoli, Ricotta, Pine nuts and some fresh seasonings...

Lasagna roll ups!

Last day at Kuhl Beanz

Let me first say that i have worked at Kuhl Beanz for 2 years (ONE week shy... but same thing right?)
I worked as a Barista for 3 months, a Shift leader for 6 months and a manager for a year and 3 months... i put in my time right?
All of this to say...
I am NOT opening a bottle of wine at work...
It was my last day and it was a TINY glass which is also perfectly acceptable for my pregnancy.
And Delicious.
This was my thank you to the girls for putting up with me trying to learn how to be a manager...
I am sure it was laughable!
:)
I made...
Boston Cream Cupcakes
and Chocolate Torte, and Blackberry Cornmeal Cupcakes and provided some wine...
for giggle sake.

THEN!
The girls surprised ME and threw a party at the end of my shift
They all made delicious food and dressed up, they even decorated the internet cafe in the back of our shop for the party.
They are terrific!
I miss you girls already...
Even though i am still in there getting coffee everyday.
(i sound like a terrific pregnant lady don't i... coffee and booze)

Woody or Crazy Eyes?

So as i am working on Woody's head for my Toy Story cake...
I realize he totally looks like CRAZY EYES from all of the Adam Sandler movies...
CREEPY.
Luckily for little Brody the hat helped Woody out a bit!

In the words of Mr. Etch a Sketch
Happy Birthday
Brody!
I had a ton of fun reliving my childhood memories and love for these characters while making your cake!
