Elmo

My first Rice Krispy attempt. They molded perfectly it was wonderful, but then the weight with the krispy covered in fondant and then frosting was too much for poor old elmo. Maybe next time he won't tear his body apart! Oh well, we fixed him.

Salmtal Germany

How did i move from Urban Seattle to Farm Country? This is the view from our Bedroom. We park on that pavement, yes right next to the sheep.

This is the pond in our backyard. Actually pretty, except it smells like cow outside.

We should use our God given brains

Really? I think that America has helped to dumb down our generation! They feed us TOO much information so we don't even have to try and use our brains. Freeways for example, they say Tacoma in 10 miles, next exit Tacoma, Tacoma...RIGHT HERE with arrows! Here in Germany you get one sign 100 meters from it's turn. They say hope you know where you were going! Then today, i try and figure out if we are still allowed two checked bags so i visit delta.com. I looked on the prohibited items list to see if knitting needles were on there and the list amused me at first and then i found it disgusting that we actually need all of the information... Now i have to unpack my ice pick! NUTS!

Baked Cheese

So i didn't have access to feta logs, so i used mozzerella logs and then sprinkled all the crumbled feta i had on top. I threw in tomatoes on the bottom, onion, pepperochini's, mushrooms, kalamata olives and sprinkled chili flakes, salt & pepper on top. I baked it on Broil for 20 minutes. YUM! You should try it.

A few of my favorite things

Don't get me wrong i am SO thankful for my new dishwasher, BUT this stuff smells so good that i don't mind washing things by hand! It reminds me of good ol' Aveda but for my dishes

This is a new favorite, it reminds me of brother. Singin his songs, playin his guitar and just being him. I love it!

I am totally over wanting to be Mrs. Brittany Buble, but i still love the sound of his voice and the good old classic songs. It gives me fever!

I love the Lavender, a little spritz on my sheets and pillow cases as i iron them. YUM!

Soothing, refreshing, light sweet scent. Perfection.

Manolo's! I want this pair, i only want to own one pair in my life... but this is the pair. I don't like Sex in the City so that is not why... i just LOVE them. One day maybe my daughter will wear them in her wedding!

This stuff is AMAZING! It smells delicious, and smooths my hair without leaving it greasy. LOVE IT!

Lemon Poppey Seed Cupcakes with Fresh Strawberries

The recipe compliments of Women's Day Magazine

INGREDIENTS
White Chocolate Frosting21⁄2 cups cold heavy cream6 oz white chocolate, chopped
Cake21⁄4 cups cake flour11⁄2 tsp baking powder2 Tbsp poppy seeds1⁄4 tsp salt11⁄2 cups sugar11⁄4 sticks (1⁄2 cup plus 2 Tbsp) unsalted butter, softened11⁄2 Tbsp grated lemon zest2 Tbsp lemon juiceWhites from 3 large eggs plus 1 whole egg1 cup whole milk8 Tbsp strawberry jam1 lb strawberries (reserve 4 small whole berries for garnish), hulled and sliced
PREPARATION
1. Frosting: Pour 1 cup of the cream into a 4-cup glass measure; bring to a simmer in microwave, about 2 minutes; add white chocolate. Let stand 2 minutes. Whisk until smooth; refrigerate while making cake.2. Cake: Heat the oven to 350°F. Line bottom of two 8 x 2-in. round cake pans with parchment or wax paper; coat pans and paper with nonstick cooking spray.3. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, poppy seeds and salt. Beat sugar, butter, lemon zest and juice with mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Beat in egg whites and whole egg until smooth. With mixer on low, alternately beat in flour mixture and milk until incorporated. Continue to beat batter on medium speed for 3 minutes. Divide batter between prepared pans and smooth tops with spatula.4. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until a wooden pick inserted in the centers comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire rack 10 minutes. Loosen edge of cakes with knife; invert onto the rack and remove parchment paper. Turn cakes right side up. Cool completely.5. To finish the frosting: In large bowl, beat chilled white-chocolate mixture with remaining 11⁄2 cups cold cream until stiff peaks form.6. To assemble cake: With a serrated knife, halve cakes horizontally. Place 1 layer on a serving plate, cut side up; spread with 2 Tbsp of the jam. Spread a scant 2⁄3 cup frosting over jam. Arrange one third of the sliced strawberries evenly over frosting. Top with a second cake layer; spread with another 2 Tbsp jam, frosting and a layer of berries. Repeat with a third layer. Brush the cut side of remaining cake layer with remaining jam and place jam-side down on top. Cover cake with remaining frosting. Decorate with reserved berries.

I didn't make the frosting, i thought it sounded too rich and a lemon poppey cupcake should be light i think, so i used cool whip. I also made them into cupcakes and bake them for about 15 minutes. I spread the jam over the top of the whole cupcake and then the coolwhip and topped with a sliced strawberry.

The good old days.

The good old days when you could eat whatever and you didn't care. Now i feel bad using just a little crisco, like i am killing people! BRING ME THE LARD!

Military Wives

Stupid! Why do women ruin it for all of us? Seriously, cuffed sweatpants? Slapping your child in the parking lot at the BX, he is 5, why are you slapping him? Why do you SCREAM across the coffee shop telling your 8 year old that he needs to pay for his hot chocolate. Why do you keep telling your 2 year old that you are going to take him outside if he keeps misbehaving 12 times... take the child outside. OH MY LANTA! Ruin it for the whole bunch!

Cinderella Invites

Yay! Cinderella invitations for my cousins bridal shower.

Guest room, one step closer

YAY! Martha Stewart sheets at the BX. Now i need more pillowcases to sew brown ric rac onto for a pretty show pillow. Yes, show pillow.

CAKES!

Finally finished my first ever baby sweater. It took forever! I will probably do another soon, just because things are so cute when they are little.

Smokey Eyes

I am going to be attempting REAL smokey eyes this week as practice for an upcoming wedding. I am really excited!

Our FINISHED dresser! This has been a LONG time coming. I started this project in March 2008, and now it is done. All i was waiting on were holes for my beautiful knobs but... it was apparently harder than i thought to do. Thank you hubby!

Our new table! I lOVE IT! I was so excited, now i need to find some ribbon for behind the mirror to finish the nook.
