Okay, so first i must say that i need you to understand my tone.
I am NOT trying to be rude. I am thoroughly baffled.
okay, here goes...
Aren't we supposed to be PAST racism as a nation?
So why is diversity stressed so much these days?
Aren't we segregating by trying so badly not to segregate?
During February this thought occurred to me. It was "Black History Month".
I have NO qualms with celebrating that, but if we are doing that, where is Asian history month, and Native american history month, and plain old caucasian month?
I just looked through 43 pages of scholarships, and in 43 pages i am eligible for 2 scholarships. 2.
I am white, i am not a valid applicant because of my skin color and history.
This is ridiculous. Isn't this the opposite of our goal?
Don't we want equality?
So why are we still separating each other. Just because we are separating and rewarding the "diversity" in our culture doesn't mean we have equal opportunities.
It all seems confusing, like we are trying SO HARD not to separate people that we are doing just that.
just me? okay.
I totally agree with you. It does seem unfair and separate still. I have had that same thought a few times when hearing about black history month, or when I would see the "Black in America" shows on CNN, and just think.. ok can we GET OVER the color of our skin already... who freakin cares!
ReplyDeleteCan we stop labeling and categorizing each race, and saying oh this is cause he is black or white or mexican.. what ever. LOL
But to be honest... I think the only reason people of certain races get special privileges is because "we" are trying to make up for what we did to their race back when there was slavery...
IDK maybe that is an ignorant thought, but its what I assume is the reason.. call me an ass. HA.
